  1. I've define an objective to rehash the works of art I read when I was too youthful to even think about appreciating them. I previously read THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD on the grounds that my more established companion, Becky, disclosed to me it was "extraordinary" when I was around ten. I thought it was a pleasant story, and that is about it. Returning to forty years after the fact, I can concur that it's extraordinary, however there's quite a lot more here.

The most uncommon piece of Zora Neale Hurston's composing is that she takes subjects that society needs to fragment into "great" or "awful" and makes them human - consequently making them muddled. Subjects like disloyalty, local maltreatment, executing for self-insurance, slaughtering as a demonstration of leniency, colorism, white friend in need complex, neediness, female pride, female accommodation, moral relativism... You name an intense theme, and Hurston handles it in this book with a deft touch seldom found in this day and age.

Presently I comprehend why it's a great and don't simply need to believe every other person. Certainly worth a read or ten.
